Peter Lagarias brings decades of experience representing franchisees and franchisee associations in myriads of actions involving fraud claims, encroachment actions, termination and renewal cases and more. As a young lawyer he was the lead attorney in a ground breaking franchise case for the Federal Trade Commission. Since those early days he has represented thousands of franchisees throughout California and beyond. Lagarias is recognized by his peers as a Lifetime Legal Eagle by Franchise Times. He has served as an attorney adviser to the NASAA Franchise state regulators, and on the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising. Lagarias has won multiple cases many reported in appellate and other decisions. He has represented franchisees in fraud cases, breach of contract cases, encroachment, termination, renewal and transfer cases and more.
When not practicing law, Lagarias loves to travel with his wife, Elaine. He is an avid swimmer and hiker.
Fun Facts:
- Both of Lagarias’ brothers are professors (one of Mathematics and the other of Biochemistry). Lagarias joined their ranks as an adjunct law professor teaching franchise law most recently at the University of San Francisco – Law (formerly Hastings College of the Law).
- While the President of the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 1992, Lagarias co-founded Rotaplast, an organization which provides free cleft lip and palate surgery to children in need around the world for over thirty years. He remains involved in their work to this day.
- Lagarias and his family travel to Greece frequently and like to stay at the Lagaria Hotel in Halkidiki, operated by his cousins.
- Lagarias is Chair of the Nikos Kazantzakis Society of Northern California; think Zorba the Greek.
